Trade Union Organization in Ireland

Title

Trade Union Organization in Ireland

Description

Trade Unions play a key role in most economies today; their activities have an impact on all our lives. They are among the largest pressure groups in modern society and wield immense power.

Little enough has written to date about the trade union movement in Ireland and no research of substance has been done on trade union organization. This book is an attempt to fill that gap. In a sense “Trade union Organization in Ireland” is a source book of information. It gives a clear picture of what the three groups of people within the movement think about themselves, their organizations and trade unions.

The authors have tried to be diffuse rather than specialized and while the reader may not find the direct answers to all of his questions, he is given enough information to reach his own conclusions.

“If Ireland has been much less affected than Britain by the shop floor revolution” says the authors, “it has also been much less affected by legislative change. It seems very likely that the bulk of material in this book will represent the position in the republic for some time to come.
