A Short History of the Labour Movement
Title
A Short History of the Labour Movement
Description
The Crisis in British Society has many facets: devaluation, the hostility between the labour government and the trade unions, the radical student movement, the growth of racialism.
The Perspectives series is a new attempt to analyze these developments from a socialist standpoint. It does this by examining in turnkey sectors of the British Society- beginning with industry, the trade union and labour movement- and relating current changes to the unchanging structure of economic power and inequality. On the basis of statistics clearly presented and simply analyzed, this series challenges the slogans and solutions of all the political parties and argues for the continuing validity of the socialist critique of society. The series is introduced by a discussion of fundamental Marxist ideas.
