Liam Connellan was the Director General of the Confederation of Irish Industry. This collection is a selection of his speeches and papers, held by the Library at the National College of Ireland.
After the Staines air disaster in 1972, which took the lives of all 118 onboard, including 12 Irish business leaders, Connellan took over as Director General of the Confederation of Irish Industry.
During his twenty-year tenure he made a seminal contribution to Irish economic development. It coincided with Ireland's entry into the European Union and the Troubles in Northern Ireland. He also played a significant role in the merging of the CII and the Federation of Irish Employers (FIE) to form Ibec in 1993.
